About Ohr Naava

What Hue are You?

Greens, they say, are fresh and hopeful. Blues are wise and faithful. Reds are strong and passionate. Yellows are joyful and energetic. Together, colors have the power to affect our everyday lives, to express complex and potent ideas, and — perhaps most importantly — to uplift.

For the past eight years, Ohr Naava Women’s Torah Center, founded in loving memory of Naava Katlowitz, ע"ה, has splashed the Jewish world with sweeping strokes of brilliant color. With exceptional, everyday programming, the organization has cast transformative hues on the lives of thousands of women across the globe. Here at Ohr Naava, there are no monotonous shades: Yiddishkeit is vibrant, dynamic —alive.

Ohr Naava's vivid burst of color is not just the result of its stellar faculty palette: its strikingly chromatic, multi-colored audience is what makes for a consummate masterpiece. Attending Ohr Naava’s nightly programs are women from every ethnic tint and social stratum. The common denominator? A desire to grow—and connect.

And the kaleidoscope of color seeps well beyond Brooklyn. Today, with its online classes and international events, Ohr Naava is painting the Jewish world red—this time, with a fiery passion for Torah and a heartfelt love for fellow Jews.

At Ohr Naava, every hue is unique—and the blends are masterful. Ohr Naava...and Hue.

Ohr Naava Initiatives

Ohr Naava Center. Featuring nightly, thought-provoking lectures and practical, real-growth workshops, the Ohr Naava Center is headed by an outstanding staff completely attuned to the needs of today’s Jewish women and girls,  and always available for one-on-one guidance.  With a multi-level learning program by dynamic educators, exciting Shabbatons and events, shidduch networking, social opportunities, Shabbos placement, and much more, the Center is the pulsing hub of Ohr Naava’s activities — and has recently widened its impact, with programming that travels across the tri-state area, spreading the Ohr Naava magic.

Ateres Naava. A popular post-high-school Judaic studies seminary in which students can earn a respected Bachelorʼs degree alongside their Kodesh classes, Ateres Naava offers a warm, homey atmosphere and a seasoned, animated faculty. To house the overflowing student population from across the USA and overseas, recently, the Ateres Naava dorm was inaugurated.

Bnot Chaya Academy. A Brooklyn-based girls’ high school and dormitory, Bnot Chaya connects young adults from across the country with a stellar team of Rabbis, teachers and mentors seasoned in caring for youth on the fringe. With effusive love and warmth, the dedicated faculty provides for these girls’ social and academic needs — including a fully accredited Honors Regents program — in a nurturing, home-like environment, sowing new beginnings in their shattered lives.

GALTime. GALTime is a unique nationwide bi‑monthly program for preteens and teens in the 6th–12th grades. Created to engage frum adolescents with meaningful, wholesome — and fun — activities, GALTime’s jam-packed, thoroughly-enjoyed events testify to the extensive communal need for teen-catered programming.

The Shidduch Initiative. Ohr Naava’s most recent addition, the Shidduch Initiative is a first-of-its-kind program offering personalized guidance, encouragement, and networking opportunities for single girls. Staffed with two full-time shadchanim, as well a team of devoted volunteers, the Shidduch Initiative hosts monthly “Meet the Shadchan” get-togethers, personal appointments, and singles events, all of which offer critical emotional and practical support at this often-difficult life juncture.
